We raise funds for local charitable organisations. In recent months these have included Claire House Hospice, Countess of Chester Hospital and the Bird Charity
We support Rotary International activities, assisting at the Disabled Games, End Polio Appeal and other good causes during the year.
Our club was formed in June 2015, having originally been a satellite of the Hawarden Rotary Club. We are an autonomous, all-inclusive club… males and females of varying ages and backgrounds, with diverse jobs or retirement schedules, with a variety of interests and experience. We take pride in the ethos of our club – inclusive, informal and welcoming to all.
Our common aim is to harness energy and goodwill and to put all this to good effect by raising awareness and money to help others in our area (the CH4 community of Chester – Handbridge, Curzon Park, Saltney and Westminster Park). We also participate in Rotary’s national and international programs for youth development and ending polio.
We hold fundraising events such as quiz nights, race nights, fetes, pumpkin carving competitions and other original activities to raise monies for charity. In our short existence, we have raised thousands of pounds via the generosity of our supporters and the energies of our members.
Alongside all this, we have fun….in conversations, listening to the experience of others by way of invited speakers and social evenings. We gather in local hostelries for pleasant evening meals, and visit companies and organisations locally for interesting and entertaining tours and experiences.
Where are we? We routinely meet on Wednesday evenings at different locations in Handbridge\Westminster Park\ Curzon Park. Our meetings usually start at 7 pm, last for one hour and are very informal. We also have a full program that sometimes take us farther afield. Our diary of events and locations is published on our website and advertised on Facebook.
Could you do join us? Anyone is welcome to come along to our meetings and get the feel of what we are doing. Though we meet weekly, there is no commitment to attend every week, as we all juggle our busy lives and have other demands on our time. You might decide that joining is not for you but, perhaps you might like to help at events occasionally when we need some extra manpower! Whatever you could offer as we build our club, would be most appreciated and we are sure that you would enjoy your involvement.
